1971: Specialty Records sues John Fogerty for allegedly copying several elements of Little Richard's "Good Golly Miss Molly" for the band's single "Travelin' Band." The suit is later dropped.
1971: John Lennon and Yoko Ono appear on The Dick Cavett Show.
1977: Linda Ronstadt sings the national anthem at Game 3 of the World Series.
2000: The Beatles' Anthology hits #1 on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list.
PRINCE TRIBUTE! The Prince tribute concert took place at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul last night. Stevie Wonder performed with Chaka Khan on her 1984 hit, "I Feel for You," written by Prince. The two followed that with a version of Prince's hit "1999," delighting the 18,000 fans in attendance. Get the recap.
RINGO'S ALL-STARRS! Ringo Starr's All Starr Band launches a new fall tour tomorrow in Snoqualmie, Washington. Get the itinerary. Meanwhile, Ringo has been working on a follow-up to his 2015 album Postcards from Paradise, which featured a song the All Starr Band co-wrote called "Island in the Sun."
THE WHO GETS BOXED! The Who will release an expanded, five-CD box set on November 18. The My Generation: Super Deluxe collection features new mono and stereo mixes of the album, and a variety of mono and stereo bonus tracks that include several previously unreleased tunes, alternate mixes and demos.
