1958 The L.P. "Johnny Mathis' Greatest Hits" went to number 1 in the US. It stayed on the charts for 490 weeks, setting a record that would not be broken until Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon".
1959 Bob Dylan graduated from high school in Hibbing, Minnesota
1964 David Jones And The King Bees released their first record, "Liza Jane" in the UK. Jones later became David Bowie to avoid confusion with Davy Jones of The Monkees.
1971 Grand Funk broke The Beatles' box office record by selling out Shea Stadium in 72 hours. The concert grossed more than $300,000. That was about $2,000 more than The Beatles in 1965.
1974 The Bobbie Gentry Happiness Hour summer TV show debuted on CBS.
1977 Alice Cooper lost one of his most famous stage props when a rat being served as dinner to Cooper's boa constrictor, bit the snake and killed.
1979 64 year old Muddy Waters married 25 year old Marva Jean Brooks.
1988 After nine years of marriage, Patti Boyd filed for divorce from Eric Clapton.
1989 The Doobie Brothers reformed their original hit making line-up and hit the concert trail.
1993 Conway Twitty died of a heart attack during surgery. He was 59.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE!
Wonder Woman had the largest opening for a female-led comic adaptation over the weekend coming in at the top spot. Internationally, Wonder Woman brought in upwards of $122 million in its opening weekend, besting Man of Steel, Thor, The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. Meanwhile, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, took second place followed by last week's box office champ, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. ELTON JOHN TERROR TRIBUTE! Elton John has paid tribute to the victims of terror attacks in Manchester and London. During his concert in Derby, England Sunday night, Elton dedicated his hit "I Want Love" to those who were killed. Get the details.

GREGG ALLMAN LAID TO REST! Over the weekend Gregg Allman was laid to rest in Macon, Georgia. Allman's former wife, Cher, was among the mourners at the service, as were fellow Allman Brothers Band members Dickey Betts, Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson and Derek Trucks. Allman died May 27 of liver cancer at age 69 following years of failing health. KC SHAKES HIS BOOTY! KC and the Sunshine Band is bringing some heat to the dance floor just in time for summer with a new single called "Movin' Your Body." A lyric video of the song was premiered recently on Billboard.com and also can be viewed on the band's official YouTube Channel.

PATRIOTIC SQUIRRELS! An Air Force veteran in San Antonio recently discovered that all the American flags in his front yard had been stolen. But it turns out it wasn't vandalism. Apparently his next door neighbor witnessed a pair of squirrels ripping the flags from their sticks and running off with them. High up in a tree, a patriotic squirrel nest was built with ten small American flags. Click here to see the squirrels in action.
