1963 Decca Records releases "Come On", The Rolling Stones' first single. The same day, they make their TV debut on the BBC's Thank Your Lucky Stars.
1966 Roy Orbison's wife, 25 year old Claudette, was killed in a motorcycle accident.
1969 Blind Faith played their only live performance in Hyde Park, London.
1971 Carole King's album "Tapestry" is awarded a Gold record.
1975 Elton John's album "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy" went to #1 in the US in its first week of release. It was the first time any artist had achieved this feat.
1976 Capitol Records re-issues some of The Beatles' hits on the album "Rock 'N' Roll Music".
1993 Ground breaking of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame took place in Cleveland.
2012 Bob Welch, a member of Fleetwood Mac from 1971 to 1974, died of an apparent suicide at the age of 66.

A CAPITOL 4TH! The Beach Boys and The Four Tops are among the artists set to performer at the annual PBS special, A Capitol Fourth, on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. John Stamos will host as well as play drums with The Beach Boys. The show will air at 7 p.m. on PBS. Get the details.

DEAD CELEB! Marilyn Hall, an Emmy-winning TV writer-producer, philanthropist and wife of Let's Make a Deal host Monty Hall, died on Monday at age 90. She also served as a writer on the TV series Love American Style, and as a producer on the 1982 TV movie A Woman Called Golda. Get the obit.

ANGRY BIRD! A peacock went on a rampage at a California liquor store last Monday. After gaining entry, the berserk bird flew around the store breaking bottles of wine and champagne and causing $500 damage in the ensuing mayhem. The bird might go through withdrawals after being caught and sent to the Peacock Cafe inside the local arboretum, which does not serve alcohol. Get more on the reckless ruckus.
