THURSDAVE!

Today is Bad Poetry Day.

THIS DAY IN ROCK!
1962: The Beatles perform a gig notable only as the first time Ringo plays with the band.
1964: The Beatles arrive in San Francisco for the start of their first full US tour.
1969: The Woodstock Music and Art Fair comes to a close.
1969: While filming Ned Kelly, Mick Jagger is hit by a stray bullet from a prop gun.
1977: Elvis' funeral is held at Graceland.
1982:  Liverpool names four of its streets for its native sons: John Lennon Drive, Paul McCartney Way, George Harrison Close and Ringo Starr Drive.

NEW MOVIES IN THEATERS! New flicks to check out as of tomorrow include War Dogs (R), Imperium (R) and the remake of Ben-Hur. I have an aversion to remakes of the classics so I doubt if I will ever see Ben-Hur 2016 in order to keep my thoughts of the original intact. Click here for the rest of the new stuff.

McCARTNEY BACK TO CAPITOL! Paul McCartney has gotten back with Capitol Records, The Beatles' first U.S. label. The agreement spans from the 1970 McCartney album through his most recent release, 2013's New. Sir Paul says  "Not only was Capitol my first U.S. record label, but the first record I ever bought was Gene Vincent's 'Be-Bop-a-Lula' on the Capitol label." Get more McCartney!

DEAD DIRECTOR! Arthur Hiller, best known for directing the 1970 flick Love Story starring Ryan O'Neal, died Wednesday of natural causes. He also directed numerous episodes of TV series, including Perry Mason, Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Rifleman. Hiller was 92. Get the obit.

CROSBY TOUR KICK-OFF! David Crosby's latest solo album, Lighthouse will be released in Ocotber. And ahead of the release, he'll kick off a new North American tour tonight in South Orange, New Jersey. Click here for the dates.

UNHAPPY MEAL! McDonald's has pulled those "Step-it" fitness trackers from its Happy Meals. They were a part of campaign to get kids moving. But apparently kids have been getting rashes from wearing them. Get the scratchy details.
