1976 Elton John becomes the first Rock star since The Beatles to be immortalized at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum.
1983 Stevie Wonder and Neil Sedaka are inducted into the Songwriter's Hall Of Fame.
1987 After The Beatles' albums start being released on CD, the Fab Four returned to the UK charts with "A Hard Day's Night" at #30, "Please Please Me" is #32, "With The Beatles" sits at #40 and "Beatles For Sale" is #45.
2001 The Recording Industry of America and the National Endowment for the Arts announced that Judy Garland's "Over The Rainbow" had been selected as their Song Of The Century.
2009 Jimmy Boyd, best known for the 1952 song "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus", died at age 70.
2012 The funeral for Davy Jones was held in Indiantown, Florida.

DEAD CELEB! One of my favorite people has died. Robert Osborne, host of one of my favorite cable channels died yesterday at age 84. Turner Classic Movies will never be the same. Click here for the obit.

CAUSES OF DEATHS! A British coroner has found that George Michael died of natural causes. To be more specific "dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver." Cardiomyopathy is essentially weakened heart muscle. And Bill Paxton's death was due to a stroke days after undergoing surgery to fix an aortic aneurysm and repair a heart defect. SGT PEPPER'S 50TH! June will mark 50 years since the release of The Beatles' album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. And Apple Corps is planning to release a 50th anniversary edition of Sgt. Pepper which will include "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane," two songs that were left off the original album which was originally was released on June 1, 1967. Get more Beatlemania.
