1968 Twiggy recommends Mary Hopkin to Paul McCartney as a new artist for Apple Records.
1970 Four students were shot and killed by the National Guard at Kent State University in Ohio during an anti-war demonstration, the inspiration for the CSNY song "Ohio."

CHER AWARD! Cher is set to receive the ICON trophy at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday May 21st. Cher will receive the honor for her many accomplishments, including scoring #1 hits on at least one Billboard chart in every decade from the 1960s through the 2010s. Get  more details.

JOE WALSH AT GRACELAND! This weekend, Joe Walsh will head to Memphis to participate in a special fan experience at Elvis' newly renovated Graceland mansion. The three-day excursion, dubbed "Joe Walsh All Shook Up at Graceland," includes an acoustic show at the new Guest House at Graceland hotel that will include a Q&A session. Get the details.

SPEEDING IN CANADA! A North Dakota man received a  speeding ticket in Canada after traveling nearly twice the limit. The guy said he didn't realize that the speed limits in Canada are posted in kilometers. So when he saw the speed limit sign reading 100 KPH, he went 100 MPH instead! 100 miles per hour is the equivalent of 168 kilometers per hour. The guy was fined the equivalent of $684.86 for his miscalculation. Get the police report.
