1965 Dave Davies is knocked unconscious when he falls into drummer Mick Avory's cymbal during a London concert.
1969 The Hollies recorded "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" with Elton John on piano.
1973 Carole King gives a free concert for 100,000 fans in New York's Central Park.
1978 The Who's London concert is filmed for their movie The Kids Are Alright.
2013 Marshall Lytle, bassist for Bill Haley & His Comets died of lung cancer at the age of 79.

STAR WARS 40TH! Star Wars debuted in US theaters and these days it's as popular as ever. Of course, any Star Wars anniversary reminds us that Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia, is no longer with us. Mark Hamill recently revealed that he and Fisher were "really attracted to each other" back in the day. Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which opens December 15. RONNIE RECOVERING! Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood recently underwent a successful operation to treat a small lung lesion. The  lesion was discovered during a routine medical screening. Wood is recovering and no further treatment will be needed. Get the prognosis. Meanwhile, the Rolling Stones forthcoming No Filter Tour, kicks off September 9 in Hamburg, Germany.

NEW MOVIES IN THEATERS! Baywatch (R) opens today, getting a jump start on the competition for this holiday weekend.
